MS Midnatsol

The MS Midnatsol (Norwegian for 'Midnight Sun') was launched in 2003 and has since been renamed the MS Maud. This vessel is now one of Hurtigruten's dedicated expedition ships, moving away from the traditional coastal voyage to focus on destinations like the British Isles, Norway, and occasionally the poles. It has a total capacity for 1,000 passengers (though far fewer on expedition sailings) and features a colorful, warm decor inspired by the glow of the Midnight Sun, contrasting with the cool Norwegian landscapes. 

The ship underwent a substantial refurbishment to become a hybrid-powered vessel, reflecting Hurtigruten's commitment to sustainability. Onboard amenities include several restaurants featuring the Norway's Coastal Kitchen concept (locally sourced food), observation decks, a science center for educational lectures, a fitness center, and a beautiful lounge area.
